The next chapter in an evolving ministry

Pre-arrival Checklist

  • Thoroughly read and understand the contents of this website with an emphasis on the page(s) entitled GUIDELINES and the online APPLICATION page upon entry.
  • Ensure that all personal business and social arrangements have been concluded before arrival as you will not be permitted to withdraw for visitation or appointments for the first 6 to 8 weeks. All necessary phone calls should be handled prior to arrival when phone contact will be limited.
  • Communicate thoroughly to ensure any prescription medications will be approved prior to scheduling your admission. We never allow potentially abused medications regardless of the reason you possess them. Popular medications that we WILL NOT accept include sleep aids, mood stabilizers and psychotropic agents. This is not an appropriate environment for major mental health conditions. Our focus is sober living. We do not offer ANY healthcare services and are not permitted to dispense medication or give medical advice.
  • Beach House Recovery is NOT RESPONSIBLE for any courtroom or probation appointments of any residents. If for any reason you are ordered to appear during your initial phase of residence and our staff is needed for local transportation, you will be required to cover $50 for the cost of transportation and the inconvenience.
  • Make 100% sure you will arrive without opiates, benzos or opioid medications in your system as we will deny arrival for anyone testing positive for safety reasons. We highly recommend a medical detox center for those addicted to opiates or benzos or alcohol. Our 14 panel drug screen contains an 80 hour alcohol panel which must be negative upon admission. We do not offer medical or professional services.
  • Make certain you are healthy enough to participate in daily activities including classroom participation and transportation to and from 12 step meetings. This is not a detox facility and we will not allow residents to lie in bed or avoid daily activities while experiencing withdrawal symptoms.
  • Leave all distractions including books, games and electronic devices behind as you will not be permitted to possess electronics or outside literature during phase one. Leave your books and “old ideas” at home.
  • You may not bring, drive or possess a vehicle for any reason. You may not store a vehicle locally while enrolled due to the high likelihood of abusing driving guidelines.
  • Suggested items to bring include twin sheets, towel, pillow and blanket as well as personal hygiene items. Residents have the opportunity to shop locally on a weekly basis. Do not overpack as space is limited and washer/dryer available for regular use.
  • A small bank of personal money is permitted for resident purchases including grocery and gas station excursions. Never store or display valuable items including cash and jewelry in a recovery environment for obvious reasons. Families are encouraged to use a food lion gift card which is safer than cash and convenient for shopping locally.
  • Long term commitment to recovery requires a willingness to go to any length which means after completing the first phase of our program you will be asked to take any available position within walking distance as a means to self support. More often than not this involves a restaurant or hospitality job working alongside a group of other residents in the community. This aspect of the program is non-negotiable and should be thoroughly considered prior to arrival.
  • Probationary residents in their first six weeks will not be permitted visitation either on or off property under any circumstances. Arranging to meet acquaintances or unauthorized phone use in violation of this guideline will result in an early dismissal. All phase two residents are responsible for rent payment of $150/week which will be reduced to $125 upon acceptance to phase three.
  • Understand before you arrive that no one is guaranteed entry into phase two. We have more applicants than we have beds and your attitude and willingness will determine your opportunity to move forward.
  • Take some time to view the “addiction counseling” page of this website to familiarize myself with the separate services available through Eugene Kaplan Counseling.
  • Submit your nonrefundable fee using the page titled “submit payment” prior to arrival. You can also pay weekly rent using cash app at “beachhouserecovery”. Understand in advance that we take no refundable deposits and due to the nominal cost of tenancy we issue no refunds.
  • You should now be prepared to contact our office to schedule your arrival. Please do not show up unannounced. You can reach Tony at (910)712-4407. The correct address is 1198 Riverview Dr, Calabash NC 28467. You will not be permitted to enter residence until you have passed a drug/alcohol urine screen. If you cannot pass a breathalyzer with 0.0 on test you will be turned away.
