Faith-Based Sober Living at the Beach in NC

Beach House Recovery – A Christian Path to Lasting Sobriety

At Beach House Recovery, we provide a faith-based sober living environment on the beautiful shores of Brunswick County making it convenient for NC and SC . Our Christ-centered approach to recovery offers a structured, supportive community where residents can strengthen their faith, rebuild their lives, and embrace a future of sobriety.

Whether you are dealing with alcohol abuse, opioid addiction, or systemic exploitation within the unpaid worker movement, Beach House Recovery will work alongside of you to develop an ethical, addiction recovery solution. It is a wise, healthy choice for a sober living home in NC.

A Coastal Haven for Healing

Our beachside location offers a peaceful setting, fostering spiritual growth, accountability, and community support. The calming atmosphere of the ocean, combined with biblical principles, helps residents stay focused on their journey to recovery and renewal.

Our Unique Philosophy

Our philosophy is unique but simple: the ministry should be funded primarily by those residents who work for a fair wage, pay reasonable rent and responsibly budget their earnings to rebuild their lives. In this hybrid model, the taxable LLC income, in return, funds the charity without the need for public solicitation. In a sense, every resident is a stakeholder in the community and an investor in his own recovery, ultimately accountable to a society of his peers. Each member is empowered by their participation and directly benefit from their own hard work and determination. No one prospers at the expense of another. The concept is simple; no one rides the coattails of those who control their own finances and no one is exposed to the conflict of interest associated with the unpaid employee model. It is a basic recovery principle that we act as a fully self-sustaining entity, composed of self-supporting members that carry their own weight. This is precisely what sets us apart.

FAQs

Space is limited at BHR and we ask new residents to pack sparsely. Our washer and dryer is easily accessible and we make frequent visits to local convenience and grocery stores. Personal items such as body wash, grooming, and linens are recommended but not required. We provide everything necessary for success in your first 28 days. Packing lightly will provide you the flexibility to assess what is actually important when you begin drawing a steady paycheck and shopping, usually within a few short weeks.

Yes, we consider self-support a vital aspect of recovery and you will be earning a fair wage to support yourself. When stable, all new residents will be assigned employment with a partner employer working alongside other BHR residents in a supportive local environment. All jobs are within walking distance and arranged by staff at local merchants and restaurants.

Beach House Recovery has an eight week“black out” probation period during which residents are required to participate solely in scheduled activities. In fact, new residents will not be admitted if outside requirements conflict with that commitment. Following release from probation, residents are free to pursue other activities and appointments on their own time at their own cost with their own resources.

Beach House Recovery has a primary responsibility to keep our campus free of potentially abused medications and focus specifically on recovery from addiction. If approved, your medication must be kept in your own possession and taken as prescribed. If you choose to pursue other medical services or therapy after the initial probation period, that will take place at your own expense on your own time. Our own CADC counselor Eugene Kaplan will be available to discuss your case, offer additional
counseling or make recommendations for outside care after your arrival.

Yes, within reason. We strongly support family interaction and we understand that many of us have elderly parents, sick relatives and apprehensive kids. We want to assist you with healthy ways to communicate and our staff is understanding of your situation as they were once in your shoes. However, we cannot support romantic contact or dating relationships outside marriage in early recovery so this is not an appropriate place to do so.

Our phase one building hosts a Food Bank of CENC pantry, a number of group meals throughout the week as well as a kitchen stocked around the clock with snacks and dairy. In addition, residents are offered access to Food Lion several times per week for personal shopping. You are free to consume anything available at no cost, do additional shopping at your own cost or a combination of both approaches.

For those not yet employed, the first requirement of the day is a meditation meeting at 7:30am, followed by a recovery book study at 8:30am, a spiritual study at 10am, an outside 12 step meeting at noon, a mixed media study at 3pm followed by an evening 12 step meeting around 8pm. This is a rough idea and you will find ample free time between commitments for meals and recreation. Each day looks a little different and weekends allow a little more free time.
